Nuvvula Karam Podi

 All You Need

  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
  • 8-10 kashmiri red chillies
  • 10-12 regular red chillies
  • 1/4 cup dry coconut
  • 1/4 cup chana dal
  • 1/4 cup urad dal
  • 1/2 tbsp jeera
  • 10 small garlic pods (no need to peel)
  • 1 tbsp jaggery
  • Small tamarind pieces


The Recipe

  • Dry roast sesame seeds first on a very low flame. Keep aside. The entire recipe needs to be cooked on a low flame. 
  • Roast the red chillies together
  • Dry roadt the dry coconut, chanadal, uraddal and jeera
  • After 10 mins, add the garlic pods and salt and roadt further.
  • Let al ingredients cool down completely.
  • Grind the red chillies first followed by the dals mixture. Grind softly. Then add sesame seeds, jaggery and tamarind in the end. Keep few sesame seeds aside and you can add them in the end.
