All You Need :
  • 1 cup Besan (Chickpeas flour)
  • 1/3 rd cup ghee (Clarified Butter)
  • 1 cup Sugar (powdered)
  • Few strands of Saffron dissolved in milk
  • 1 tbsp Cardamom (elachi) powder
  • Yellow food colour (optional)
  • Handful of sliced almonds

The Recipe:
  • Melt the ghee in a thick bottomed vessel.
  • Add the besan and cook over a low flame ,stirring in between.
  • After 5 minutes, add the food color and saffron.
  • Keep stirring the besan until it turns golden brown. It smells aromatic once it is ready.
  • Just before turning off the stove, add elachi powder.
  • Remove from fire and let it cool down completely.
  • Mix together the gramflour mixture and sugar.
  • Make balls lime-sized and along with every ball, also add a few slices of almonds. If the mixture is too dry and you are not able to make balls, then add a few drops of milk.

Archana, u asked me about the packaging of my laddoos in the forum.
It is actually a wooden container wrapped with Rajasthani print cloth.I decorated the cloth further with beads/decorative studs.
After filling the container with laddoos,I covered it with a plastic foodwrap.
I got the wooden shape box at Pune,India where I used to work earlier.Hope this helped.Incase of any doubts ,u can ask me further.

Hey sri,
please don't think that I'm writing comments just b'coz you stopped by me. Really, I found a lot of time today as my son slept early. Loved your besan laddu. Nice presentation. You must have taken a pic without the plastic wrap too. Could have shown off the awesome laddu even more.
