Malai Peda

Recipe 1 (Traditional and time taking)
All You Need:
  • Full fat milk 1 litre
  • Sugar 1/2 cup
  • Few saffron strands
  • Few drops of citric acid or curd
  • Cornflour
  • Elachi powder
The Recipe:
  • Boil milk in a heavy bottomed pan stirring throughout until it reduces to half
  • Dissolve saffron in a spoon of warm milk and add to the milk
  • Add Sugar and mix for 5 mts
  • Mix two pinches of citric acid in 3 tsp of water and add gradually to the milk until it curdles slightly
  • Mix cornflour in 2 spoons milk and add to the boiling milk
  • Stir continuously till it becomes thick and appears like khoya
  • Add elachi powder and mix well
  • Allow to cool and grind if needed to get the softness
  • Shape into 18 small balls. Make impressions on it with a fork or a serrated spoon
  • Decorate with almonds and pista
