All You Need:
- Chana Dal 1 cup
- Water 1 cup
- Jaggery 1.5 cup
- Elachi powder 1 tsp
- Chapati Aata
- Haldi
The Recipe:
- Add Haldi and some hot oil in the aata and mix it to form a stiff dough. Let it sit for an hour or so
- Boil Chana dal with water in cooker
- Grind when it is cool
- Add jaggery and elachi. This mix we call poornam
- Roll out pooris and place a poornam ball in the center
- Cover it lacing the edges with some water and deep fry
- Variation: Instead of chapathi aata, use 1 cup maida+1/4 cup water+3 tsp ghee. Keep covered for 3 hrs and proceed with the same recipe
