Kaja Poornalu

All You Need:
  • Chana Dal 1 cup
  • Water 1 cup
  • Jaggery 1.5 cup
  • Elachi powder 1 tsp
  • Chapati Aata
  • Haldi
The Recipe:
  • Add Haldi and some hot oil in the aata and mix it to form a stiff dough. Let it sit for an hour or so
  • Boil Chana dal with water in cooker
  • Grind when it is cool
  • Add jaggery and elachi. This mix we call poornam
  • Roll out pooris and place a poornam ball in the center
  • Cover it lacing the edges with some water and deep fry
  • Variation: Instead of chapathi aata, use 1 cup maida+1/4 cup water+3 tsp ghee. Keep covered for 3 hrs and proceed with the same recipe
