Pappula Podi (Putnala Podi)

All You Need:
  • Dry coconut Powder
  • Dalia (Putnalu)
  • Jeera 2 spoons
  • Dhaniya 2 spoons
  • Red Chillies (lots of them)
  • Tamarind raw, small pieces
  • Sugar 1 tsp
  • Salt
  • Tadka -> Mustard seeds,Jeera,Red chillies,Hing
The Recipe:
  • Roast coconut powder in sim to remove raw smell
  • Roast Dhaniya and Jeera in a tsp of oil and keep aside
  • Fry Red chillies in a drop of oil and keep aside
  • Roast tamarind pieces so that they grind easily
  • Grind all the above with raw dalia adding sugar and salt
  • Add tadka
Note: Use a maximum of 2 small spoons of oil for the whole process

Variation 2
  • Grind Putnalu (dalia) and chilli powder (as per your spice preferance)
  • Add some salt and hing to the powder
  • In a kadai, heat a tsp of ol and add jeera, mustard seeds, urad dal, crushed garlic(optional), curry leaves. Add this to the putnala powder and mix well.
