Masala Khichidi

All You Need:
  • Basmathi Rice 1.5 cups
  • Yellow Moong dal 1/2 cup
  • Jeera
  • Cloves
  • Bay Leaves
  • Onion
  • Mixed veggies 1/2 cup (potatoes,carrots etc)
  • Tomato 1 small
  • Grated ginger
  • Haldi
  • Pepper powder
  • Dhaniya powder
  • Garam masala
  • Salt
The Recipe:
  • Wash the rice and dal and soak them together for 20 mts
  • In a heavy vessel, heat oil or ghee and add jeera,cloves,bay leaves
  • Add onion and grated ginger, haldi
  • After it cooks, add the veggies
  • Close lid and cook for 5 mts
  • Drain water from rice-dal mixture and add the onion-tomato mixture
  • Combine and add pepper powder,dhaniya powder,garam masala and salt
  • Mix well. Add 5 cups of water and cook on low flame till rice and dal are cooked (25 mts approx)
