Chandra Kanthalu

All You Need:
  • Moong dal 1 cup
  • Rice 1 tbsp
  • Sugar 1.5 cups
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • Cashews 1/4 cup
The Recipe:
  • Soak yellow moong dal with rice for 2 hrs and grind it coarsely
  • Heat a kadai and add sugar, ground dal paste, cashews,coconut fried in a tsp of ghee and mix well
  • Sugar melts and mixture begins to form bubbles while cooking
  • Cook on a low flame, stirring continuously to form a thick lump
  • Remove from heat and add elachi powder and a pinch of salt
  • Immediately transfer the mixture onto a wet cloth (3-4 layer folded) and spread it using a oil-coated ladle
  • Cut into diamond shapes and separate pieces carefully
  • Deep fry them in oil and store in air-tight container
  • Stays fresh for 4-5 days
